Paul Menard

Tony Stewart
This rivalry really started to form during the running of the Dodge Dealers 400 at Dover International Speedway in September of 2007. Menard and his team were pitted directly in front of Stewart during the race. On almost every pit stop Menard blocked Tony in his stall which costed him a lot of time in the pits. After one of these incidents Tony bumped Paul on the track to let him know he was unhappy with him. But this rivalry really took off during the October Charlotte race when the two were pitted next to each other again. During the race Tony had to make evasive maneuvers to avoid hitting Menard while exiting his pit stall. The maneuving forced Stewart into Kasey Kahne which caused a lot of right front dmamge that the team had to battle all race long. During one of the pit stops Tony's team was appalled when members of Menards team were mocking them while they tried to fix the damage. This led to some interesting rhetoric during Tony Stewart's radio show. Tony had some very harsh words for Menard in which he insinuated that Paul's father had purchased his son's Cup ride and that Paul had no talent and was just fast enough to be in the way most races. Tony also mentioned that he would feel no sympathy for Menard or his team if someone happened to put him in the wall. Could that someone happen to be Stewart himself? There a real angry rivalry forming here and it will be interesting to watch.

Dale Earnhardt Jr Fans
This is one of those rivalries that may or may not happen. Regardless there looks like there will be a split in the Jr Nation. This whole thing started May 10, 2007 when Earnhardt Jr announced he would be leaving DEI in search of a better future. On June 13, 2007 Earnhardt Jr announced his plans to sign with Hendrick Motorsports. The rivalry between everything Hendrick and everything Earnhardt started back in the 90’s when Jeff Gordon came to the NASCAR world. Gordon and Earnhardt Sr shared an on track rivalry that most fans label the biggest rivalry in NASCAR history. There has not been a bigger rivalry since the loss of Earnhardt Sr. The hard-core Earnhardt Sr fans absolutely despise everything Hendrick. One walk through the campgrounds or the stands during any given race weekend and this hatred is very much still in place today. Since the majority of those fans migrated to Earnhardt Jr after his father passed it looks like a major shakeup in the fan base is inevitable. So where are the hard-core Earnhardt fans going to go? Since Dale has made major announcements concerning his sponsors at Hendrick the Hr fans have seemed to be supportive. It's still too early to tell whether Dale will manage to retain the majority of his fans but at this point it looks like he will.
We would like to add that we believe this rivalry can be officially closed. The transition from DEI to Hendrick seemed to go seemlessly for Dale Earhardt Jr. As far as his fans go they marched to Hendrick with their driver and now the stands are full of green instead of red.

Kyle Busch

Hendrick Motorsports
The gloves are off for Kyle Busch, currently driving the 5 car for Hendrick Motorsports. It was announced on June 13, 2007 that Kyle would be replaced at the end of 2007 with NASCAR superstar Dale Earnhardt Jr. We all know the type of ego that comes with being a superstar in his own right, especially at the tender age of 22. So how will his ego drive his car now? Kyle has never really raced his teammates like his teammates feel he should. Now that Kyle is the orphan of the group look for a team wide rivalry. Kyle Busch now has something to prove and certainly his ego is going to drive that home. Kyle Busch needs to get behind the wheel every week and out race both his current teammates and his future replacement. He has nothing left to do except prove to the racing world that the decision was not the correct one. This lends itself to a huge rivalry, one of which this sport has never seen before, one guy vs. the world of NASCAR. Kyle Busch has everything to gain and Hendrick has everything to lose.

Kurt Busch
Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch are both notorious for their tempers on the track. The 2 popular drivers had a long, tough battle at Richmond Internationl Raceway in May exchanging blows throughout the final laps of the Jim Stewart 400. That battle continued on to Dover where their on track argument came to a head halfway through the Autism Speaks 400. Both drivers conceed fault to the other driver so this rivalry is far from over. Stewart has taken on this new montra of racing guys the way they race him and for lap after lap these 2 exchanged blows and positions. Finally Busch thought he had Stewart cleared and pulled up on Stewart who was advancing at that exact moment. The drivers got together putting Kurt Busch in the wall. One lap later Kurt Busch pulled up to Stewart's car on pit road. During the altercation Busch barely missed hitting one of Tony Stewart's crew members. The incident forced NASCAR to park the driver for the rest of the day and resulted in a $100,000 fine, 100 driver and owner points and probation for the rest of the 2007 season.

Juan Pablo Montoya

Tony Stewart
The media drummed up this rivalry during the running of the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway in April 2007. The 2 drivers exchanged a series of blows on the track, which eventually led to the end of Tony Stewart’s race. This rivalry would’ve been one for the ages but unfortunately the Stewart love train started running towards Juan Pablo’s camp. It wasn’t long after the incident at Texas that Stewart had Juan Pablo on his radio show and the 2 drivers shared the type of admiration for each other that can be seen and heard at the school dance. But the way these 2 are on the track could lend itself to a rehashing of the short-lived rivalry. Juan Pablo drives every race like he just stole the car out of the race shop and Stewart and his new mantra mentioned in the Kurt Busch rivalry is just crazy enough to show Juan that he can’t get away with that in his NASCAR. These 2 may bump heads once again and you can be sure that we will be ALL over it. We most certainly hope this does happen because the entertainment value of a Stewart Montoya rivalry is through the roof.
