Up and Comer Tyler Reddick Hardest Working Driver at Kokomo Klash
Caps weekend with a win and strong Sprint run

10/21/2008
By: Rob Simon
Tyler came into Kokomo on Friday to do something no other driver was attempting. The plan was to run both the Sprint and Mini Sprint on Friday and the Midget on Saturday. Pulling triple duty fits Tyler quite well and he was prepared to do well in all 3 cars.

Sprint Car Action:
The entry list for the Sprint race at Kokomo was filled with very talented national touring Sprint car drivers. Tyler’s pill draw put him in the 3rd qualifying and heat group.  After being third fastest in his qualifying group Tyler lined up behind Dave Darland and eventual A-Main winner Jon Stanbrough. Right at the wave of the green flag Tyler made a run at Stanbrough and Darland but both drivers managed to pull slightly ahead out of turn 2. Tyler settled into 3rd and held his line as a charge came at him from the #51 of Mike Hess. Tyler was able to hold Mike off and qualified for the A-Main. read more...

Rogers Wins Wild One at “The Rock”

Benny Gordon claims overall title; Drew Herring takes rookie of the year

holmanBy: Paul Warner
Rockingham, N.C.—Rockingham Speedway has seen its fair share of exciting finishes in the past. Well, add the finish of Mark Brooks Memorial Black’s Tire American 200 to the list of memorable moments at “The Rock.”

Rookie Drew Herring blasted by Benny Gordon with 20 laps remaining and was pulling away for his first Hooters Pro Cup win before catching lapped traffic with seven laps remaining. Herring had to check up, allowing Rogers to swing by to take the lead and hold on for the win on Saturday, Nov. 1.

“This is a pretty emotional win,” said Rogers, who took home $12,000 for the win. “I’ve won a race every year in my career since 1989, and it didn’t look like it was going to happen this year the way our luck was going lately.read more...

YELEY TAKES ELDORA MIDGET THRILLER

Rossburg, OH…….J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, Ariz. won Saturday night’s 25-lap “4-Crown Nationals” USAC Mopar National Midget race at the Eldora Speedway, outracing Dave Darland and Brad Sweet in one of the most spectacular “4-Crown” features ever! Yeley led the first 11 laps in his Klatt Enterprises Ford Racing Beast/Easslinger Ford, before Ricky Stenhouse Jr. sailed past both J.J. and Darland to assume command. Stenhouse then ran away from the field but on lap 17 tangled with Brad Kuhn while lapping him. After restarting last, Stenhouse began working his way back through the field but on lap 20 he flipped end-over-end on the backstretch and was transported to Wayne Hospital in Greenville, Ohio. Yeley led the final nine laps despite constant pressure from Darland. Following the third-place Sweet were Brady Bacon and Cole Whitt. Kimmel Comes Home for Salem Victory Parade

SALEM IN (9-13-08) – ARCA RE/MAX Series veteran Frank Kimmel gave his hometown fans exactly what they came to see – a victory in the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200 by Advance Auto Parts Saturday night at Salem Speedway.

However, it turned out to be much more than just another win for the local Clarksville, Indiana legend.

“This one’s pretty emotional,” said Kimmel in victory lane. “It’s been more than four years since we’ve won here, and to do it here at home means more than I can say. It’s also my dad’s birthday; he turned 80 today, so this one’s for him. This could not have played out any better for the Kimmel Racing team. We’ve been fortunate to win a lot of races, but this one ranks up there as one of the best – maybe the best.”read more...

Joey King Wins World Cup 2008

8/31/2008 (Cedar Rapids, IA)
The fans in Odessa, MO at the I-70 Speedway saw quite an impressive performance from Silvis, Illinois’ Joey King. King used the inversion of the top 6 qualifiers to put his Adrian Carriers, Gett Industries, Dan Ash Trucking Chevrolet on the pole and lead from wire to wire to capture his first victory of the 2008 season in the World Cup 100.

King took off from the drop of the green flag at I-70 and began to boast an impressive lead through the first portion of the 100 lap affair. Early caution flags mired the beginning of the event, however, keeping the field within striking distance of King‘s machine. Third place driver Joey Eggleston hit the turn four concrete hard and was one of numerous front runners to find trouble in the early going. Jack Smith, while running second, saw his night spoiled by mechanical issues as well as point leader Eddie Hoffman. read more...

Scott Speed Proves He Has More Than Just a Fast Name

SpeedAugust 8, 2008
By: The Rubber Racer
Just like something out of the Disney movie Cars, a hot shoe with a fast name has surfaced on the NASCAR scene. He’s not your typical American stock car driver. He likes to get pedicures and he dresses quite European. He looks like he would still fit in on the paddock at Monte Carlo or lying on a yacht with Kimi Raikkonen. But does his style really matter? This young man can straight up drive a stock car. Unlike much of his open wheel predecessors Speed has shown promise immediately. In his very first ARCA/ReMax series start at Talladega Superspeedway in October of 2007, Speed finished with a resounding 7th place. Dario Franchitti finished in 17th at the very same race. read more...
